Siddhar Sivavakkiyar Hymns (032)

You brush the odd* bell; you bring the spittle of bees**
You stupid, you pour them on the stones***
Queer lord****, and me, who consciously see within
To scrutinize and finish*****; had been placed at the feet of Guru

—Siddhar Sivavakkiyar Hymn (032)

* The bell is made of more than one metal. Here the stress is on saying that it is not pure, since it is made of more than one element.
** Honey.
*** Idol worship.
**** This is bit tricky as it could be considered as two different people, one being Siddhar Sivavakkiyar, another being a particular enlightened person from a particular sect, or it could even be a spiritually revered person. Here, in this case, the verse as such is an answer to a question and is being addressed to a public gathering, whereby Siddhar Sivavakkiyar denounces rituals and blind beliefs, and emphasizes on ‘complete surrender’ in guru-disciple relationship, so it is highly likely that two spiritual seekers of his time, of which, one being himself, surrendered themselves to a common guru, rather than attributing the other person referred as queer lord to a god personification, should be plainly considered as another seeker.
***** To sort and analyze the spiritual state of a disciple and to end his spiritual quest by bringing upon spiritual transformation.

Siddhar Sivavakkiyar Hymns (030)

The one without song*; the one of the eternal world
The one without land**; the one who governs suryakalai and chandrakalai***
Seeking him, mouth closed, the mantra you recited slowly in whispers****
It is like the secret hush of the hunters*****

—Siddhar Sivavakkiyar Hymn (030)

* The one who is in eternal bliss without even performing any devotional singing, it means he doesn’t need any heart rendering music to make him blissful as he is already in a bliss; music can only help us approach him so that we also enjoy the pure bliss he is writhing in.
** He doesn’t specifically belong to any particular region; he belongs to all land. He can’t be tagged as particular God of any particular country, rather he belongs to the whole of humanity.
*** The unison of suryakalai and chandrakalai shows the eternal one, which could well be considered as the ruling force behind them, well governing their flow, hence their God. That implies he is in everyone falsifying all man-made discriminations.
**** When the consciousness rests naturally upon the divine lamp one can hear the universal sound “ommmmm...” and it is the mantra that showers and adorns the eternal one as described in the first two lines.
***** That sound of the naturally existing mantra is similar to the secret hush of the hunters, here it should be considered as “umm...”, the way they call out, or signal one another during a hunt.
